Matthew J. Bennett, Psy.D.

Dr. Bennett is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist. Passion for his work, empathy, and excellence in clinical training (several years at the University of Pennsylvania) contribute to effective, lasting results. Dr. Bennett uses an integrative, eclectic approach combining psychodynamic and interpersonal therapies to help older adolescents and adults gain insight and work through varied life concerns.

In his work, symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and relationship conflict are understood as opportunities for change and personal growth.

Past work within university counseling centers (Univ. of IL at Chicago and Penn) allows Dr. Bennett to competently work with a diverse clientele, including those with mood problems, addictions, grief/loss, relationship problems, and ADHD. With a research background in psychotherapy treatment outcome, he emphasizes the use of therapy that works.

He is described as a good listener with a calm, warm and non-judgmental demeanor. His role is to collaborate with you in building the insight, confidence and hope necessary to accessing your inherent potential and life goals. Further, he makes use of an active approach, offering feedback and suggestions when appropriate.
